Photochemical oxidation
WebApr 3, 2024 · Photochemical oxidation plays an important role in the evolution of BC mixing state. The term oxidant (OX) as used here is the sum of the ozone and nitrogen dioxide mixing ratios (O 3 + NO 2 ), and it can be considered as a proxy for atmospheric aging caused by photochemical reactions (Jenkin 2014 , Canonaco et al 2015 ). Photoelectrochemical oxidation (PECO) is the process by which light enables a semiconductor to promote a catalytic oxidation reaction. While a photoelectrochemical cell typically involves both a semiconductor (electrode) and a metal (counter-electrode), at sufficiently small scales, pure semiconductor particles can behave as microscopic photoelectrochemical cells. PECO has applications in the detoxification of air and water, hydrogen production, and other applications.

WebFeb 1, 2024 · Photochemical oxidants are the product of chemical reactions that occur between nitrogen oxide (NO) and any of a host of different volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Common or well known photochemical oxidants include ozone (O3), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and peroxyacetyle nitrate (PAN). These photochemical oxidants are … WebJul 31, 2024 · This is a primary photochemical reaction: (28-1) The subsequent steps are dark reactions. At temperatures much above room temperature, the ethanoyl radical breaks down to give another methyl radical and carbon monoxide: (28-2) If this reaction goes to completion, the principal reaction products are ethane and carbon monoxide: (28-3) 2 CH …
WebPhotochemical Oxidation (UV-Persulphate Method) Here the TOC is oxidized by means of UV light and a digesting reagent, sodium persulphate, and the produced CO2 is measured with a NDIR detector. This method suits the determination of TOC in clean water (drinking water, condensate, boiler feed water), since particles are hard to oxidize ...
